Mediline incorporates in the core of its strategy, the respect for the environment:
with the choice of materials
with Production management
with the discovery of ideal solutions for its customers
Expanded Polystyrene foam (EPS) and Extruded Polystyrene foam (XPS), are considered as non toxic and non hazardous materials.
They do not contain heavy metals, cancer-causing fibers, or irritant substances.
They are widely used in the electric and building industries.
Additionally, Expanded Polystyrene foam (EPS) and Extruded Polystyrene foam (XPS), are self-extinguishing.
Mediline Isothermal Solutions has invested in Industrial equipment for waste reduction and recycling:
In respect to the European Directive 94/62/EC, we optimize, by specific software, the percentage of the active surface of our packaging, without the use of unnecessary materials. In such a way we also minimize our production waste, which would cause environmental impact.
Waste Recycling: The waste produced by the XPS & EPS panel cutting process, is led to our recycling unit and through a relevant process, we create Polystyrene grain. This recycled raw material is then introduced back to our Plastic Industry contacts.
The waste that derives from plastic or carton cutting processes are separated, led to waste compactors and then forwarded to recycling companies.
Discovery of ideal solutions for our customers
The “Ecological Design requirement”
Our products are produced, according to Greek Environmental Law No. 2939/06-08-2001, regarding all requirements for packing materials reduction, reusable materials selection, or production waste exploitation. We achieve the above requirements by:
Material selection: The mechanical and insulation attributes of (EPS) and even more those of (XPS), aid us during product design, to optimize the internal/external volume ratio and so, allow us to minimize the total weight and the total transportation cost.
Assembled packaging: In addition to the above, the specific design of our packaging, which is assembled, provides the opportunity to save enormous amount of storage and transportation space, which further reduces storage and transportation costs.
Simple, quick and easy material separation: The design of our packaging allows a very simple, quick and easy way to separate its various parts, thus providing easier recycling management.
"Green Design": Our proposed solutions are tailored towards the dimensions of the thermo-sensitive products to be transported. Therefore, our packaging meets all the necessary technical requirements and performance, without the use of unnecessary materials. It is a specialized “tight” design, named also as a “Green Design”.
Reusable packaging: The solutions that Mediline designs and offers focus on reusable packaging. Every Mediline product is designed in such a way that even if a certain part is damaged, it does make the total package useless. The damaged part may be replaced and the package may be again ready for further use.
Additional Ecological Activities
Mediline Isothermal Solutions is affiliated with the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation - HE.R.R.Co and participates in the Collective Alternative Management System – Recycling (C.A.M.S. Recycling), implemented by HE.R.R.Co.
Today there are 1.532 contracted enterprises-members who place packaged products on the Greek market. This is a landmark moment for HERRCO, since the packaging of its members make up 2/3 of the total packaging products in Greece
As a result of their membership in the HERRCO System, members fulfill their legal obligation regarding the collection and recycling of packaging waste, and they contribute to all of the System’s activities (projects, investments), through their monetary contributions which is stipulated and approved by the national Participation Agreement. In this way, the members actively participate in the protection of the environment.
The continued rise in the number of contracted members within the System testifies to HERRCO’s increasing role as a collective entity for Greek industry and commerce whose goal is to promote the recycling of packaging waste. The rise in members coincides further with the expansion of projects and activities throughout the country, with the aim of “spreading the message of Recycling to all Greeks.”
